The Trustees of the Lewisham Spiritualist Church are delighted to announce that following a Land Tribunal Hearing on the 18th and 19th of May 2026, Judge Nicola Muir ruled on 3rd June 2026. that the unilateral notice relating to 65 Boone St, be removed,

This allows the church to move forward, complete the sale,and begin the search for a new home.

The Trustees would like to thank our legal team from Trethowans, and our church members and supporters, for their patience and prayers.

The Great Spirit has prevailed.

Messages From The Spirit Realm 27/09/24

We returned to Middle Park Community Centre, for another wonderful evening of Mediumship “Messages From The Spirit Realm”. Our Mediums for the evening were Church President Miranda Wright, our longest serving member Pauline Woodhatch, and author and paranormal expert Alan Aspinall.

Nearly 70 people attended, and were treated to a fantastic display of Mediumship, with some incredibly accurate evidential messages, delivered with love and compassion.

It’s wonderful to see such an interest in Spiritualism from the local community, and we look forward to welcoming you all to our new location, in the very near future. We will be viewing some potential sites in the coming week.

Thank you to everyone that came last night, we always enjoy catching up with everyone after the event, with some tea and cake.

A huge thank you to the church team and our Mediums for their hard work.

Off To Pastures New

To enable the church to move forward, the Trustees have made the difficult decision to sell the current site at Boone St. The current economic climate is causing major problems for many developers, as lenders are being very cautious, and many will not lend on non residential/non commercial developments.

We were left facing an uncertain future, with no definitive timescale for the new build, no income and having been shut now since the COVID pandemic, we could not accept that.

The Trustees and Committee carefully examined all options, but the only viable option for the church was to sell the site and relocate. We must reopen quickly, and we remain committed to serving Spirit and the community.

It’s not the first time that our church has relocated.

Where Are We Going ?

Well it won’t be far, as we have to find a new location within 5 miles of Boone St. Currently we are looking at a number of options, and we are open to renting, leasing or even purchasing a new venue.

The funds released by the sale, will allow us to not only find and buy (or lease) a new venue, but with a bit of sensible investment, will provide enough capital to completely cover our running costs.

While we find our new home, we will be running a new Beginners Circle, a Development Circle and a weekly Divine Service on the Zoom platform.

Making New Memories

Boone St has been the heart of our church since 1937, many of you will have fond memories of the Spiritualism that took place there, and the lifelong friends you made in the community.

Please cherish those memories, and we hope you’ll join us, and make new ones at our new location.

Beyond The Veil 12/04/24

The Energy Was Strong In Eltham

We always enjoy getting back out in public, meeting up with old friends, and making a few new ones.

While our new church is being built, we’ve often used the Middle Park Community Centre In Eltham, for a range of events.

Nearly 40 guests attended last night’s event, and were treated to a fantastic display of Mediumship, with messages from three of London’s best Mediums.

There were a few tears, but mainly smiles and laughter from the audience, and the quality of the messages from spirit was evident.

If you’ve never seen a platform Medium working live, you really should join us for our next public event.

A huge thank you to the church committee for putting the event together, and for taking such good care of our guests.

But most of all, thank you to our Mediums, who were just fantastic.

See you all again in a few months !

Welcome To Our Honorary Life President

At our recent AGM, the church was delighted to award our outgoing president, Dorothy Firth,
the title of Honorary Life President.

Dotty has been a church member for 34 years, and was the longest serving president on record.

Here’s what she had to say:

“I can’t thank the church enough for this honour. My recent illness has meant that I’ve had to take some time away from running the church, and I am very grateful to Miranda Wright and the rest of the committee, for stepping in to steady the ship in my absence.

Although I have decided to step down as president, I will continue to offer my support and experience by serving as a committee member. I am delighted that the new church build is about to commence, and the church looks forward to welcoming you all back to Boone St. Our team of trustees have worked incredibly hard to make this happen.

The future looks very bright for the church, with two circles of learners doing really well, under the expert guidance of our tutors, and our membership has more than doubled since our our last AGM.

The new building will be the icing on the cake, reinforcing our links with the local community, and securing the ftuure of Spiritualism in the area, in a purpose built facility.

We hope to be open in March/April 2025, and I look forward to sitting down and catching up with everyone, over a nice couple of tea”.

Join Our Divine Service Every Sunday

Zooming Around The World

Every Sunday at 6.30pm (GMT) we open the doors to our virtual church and hold a Divine Service.

Zoom is a fantastic platform, that connects us to friends and worshippers around Britain, and in some case around the world. It’s a simple platform to use, don’t let that put you off, and only requires a very basic mastery of the camera and mute button on the platform. It works well on laptops, tablets and smartphones.

Here’s a beginners guide.

What Happens During The Service

The service is hosted by one of the church team, and we play a variety of spiritual music (not hymns), with a reading given by one of the congregation (usually a poem or something uplifting), followed by an address and a demonstration of Mediumship from our guest Medium.

It’s not at all stuffy or particularly religious, but there are a few short prayers. Spiritualism is a religion in it’s own right, but we respect whatever system of belief you follow. If you don’t wish to pray, please just close your eyes, and use the time for a moment of quiet reflection.

We do ask that your camera is on at all times, to help our Medium connect to you. This connection happens throughout the service, right from the very start. If you are off screen, you are unlikely to get a message from the Spirit Realm.

Please could we ask that you respect our service, and not eat onscreen or fiddle with your phone.

Will I Get A Message ?

The truth is that the Medium has no control over which spirit connects to them, but may get a strong indication who the message is for. If our Medium come to you directly, you will be invited to “unmute” and work with the Medium.

Don’t be nervous, nothing sensitive or highly personal will be shared with everyone. Just help the Medium, by answering yes or no to any questions they may ask you. You may be asked “can you take that”, meaning does that make any sense to you ?

Some Mediums work by offering information that spirit has provided. If you recognise a person being described, or a place or an event, please just raise an electronic hand (in the reactions section along the Zoom panel). Often more than one hand is raised, please just be patient and help the Medium work out who the message is for.

Lovely To Be Back

It’s been a busy year for the church, but we were delighted to be back out there in the real world, holding an event at Middle Park Community Centre In Eltham on 24/11/2023. People look so different in the flesh, rather than on a Zoom screen.

Lovely To Catch Up With So Many Old Friends

It was wonderful to see so many old friends, and a we made a couple of dozen new ones. Talking to the audience, many had never seen Mediums work live before. Although there were a few healthy sceptics, after the event finished, there were lots of questions from them.

The Energy In The Room Was Strong

Our medley of Mediums were just fabulous, giving message after message to the audience, resulting in big smiles, laughter and a few tears.

Our final Medium, Pauline Woodhatch even managed to make our microphone system burst into life, despite the fact it was turned off at the time.
