Trustees Required

Background

We are an independent spiritualist church based in Lewisham, South East London since 1936. We specialise in the teaching and training of new mediums and healers, with many going on to achieve certification upon completion of their training.

Sadly our current building is now beyond economic repair, and we have entered in a partnership with Princess Gate Properties, to develop a complex of residential properties with a replacement church and community centre.

Currently the church is closed to the public, as we prepare for the construction phase of the redevelopment.

During the construction period we will be holding circles and Divine Service online, and work on the the restructuring of the church governance.

Restructuring

As a part of a planned restructuring of the church governance, we are looking to recruit and appoint three new trustees. Currently we have committee members also carrying out a joint role as trustees. The long term plan is to split the trustees and committee, and move forward with a more modern governing document in place.

The new trustees will also be responsible for an application for the church to become a registered charity.

The trustees role is unpaid, although we will allow reasonable expenses to be claimed, if carrying out the business of the church (at the discretion of the treasurer).

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the church management team at a really exciting point in it’s history. The trustees will help shape and mould the new charity, to provide spiritualist services and teachings for many years to come, and to provide a wonderful space for the local community to use.

Do You Qualify As A Trustee ?

Please download and read the following guide from the Charity Commission:

The essential trustee: what you need to know, what you need to do

Successful applicants will also need to consent to an enhanced DBS check.

As these are our first appointments for stand alone trustees, the appointments will need to be confirmed by a members vote at the 2023 AGM next March, and if approved the trustees would take up their roles at the closure of the AGM.
